We have a wide range of culture and diversity within our school, representing a total of 27 languages.
Please take a look at some of our activities...
Well done to the year 5 pupils who have voluntarily been attending the "Freerice.com" club on a Tuesday lunch time with Mrs Williams. Pupils log onto www.freerice.com and answer as many maths questions correctly as possible. Each question they answer correctly, donates 10 grains of rice to the UN World Food Programme.
So far, as of Monday 6th June 2011, pupils and staff have managed to answer 6027 questions correctly, which means that we have donated
60,270 grains of rice to the Programme. Wow! Well done children - keep up the excellent work!
We are sponsoring 2 pupils at Kampala Children's Centre:
Winfred and Michael.
Our pupils have written letters, sent Christmas cards, presents, DVDs of our Christmas performance and a book about out school.
Winfred and Michael were very happy to receive all our gifts and say a big thankyou to us all!
This year we are linking with 4 schools abroad.
They are: Kampala Children's Centre in Uganda, Szkola Podstawowa Nr 1 im Marynarki Wojennej RP, Poland, Little Britain, Poland and Scuola Primaria "Ugo Foscolo", Italy.
We are also linking with Bishop Parker Catholic School in Milton Keynes.
We are really looking forward to working together with our partnership schools.
Many pupils in our school have English as an additional language, (EAL), and some can speak two or three languages fluently - amazing!
Pupils may arrive at St Mary Magdalene School with little or no English.
Some pupils need additional support to help them further their English language acquisition skills.
We have a dedicated team of staff who provide support to pupils in their listening and understanding, speaking, reading and writing English skills.
